Thanks Perry, that's very interesting. All the documentation
I've seen only refers to 'Klaxon' - no numbers - so when I
was at Oley in 2002 I did a survey on the horns fitted to
the Hendersons. Can't remember the exact numbers now but I
have them in my files at home if anyone is interested. What
I do remember is that there were more 8Cs than all the
others put together. Perry says that the 29-30 used the
Klaxon 11 so that's filled in one blank. Can anyone do a bit
on which horn was used by the other models? Some dimensions
would also be useful. 'Larger' or 'smaller' is OK if you
have both for comparison but not much good for anyone still
looking for their first one - even more so if there are some
not-too-accurate 'repros' out there! And if bikes didn't
have electrics (earlier Hens - later ones were fitted with
electrics as standard of course), what did they use as a
horn? The mechanical plunger type perhaps? Was a horn a
compulsory requirement in the US? While we're on the
subject, what did the Ace use?

As an aside, here in the UK, the regs refer to the need for
an 'audible warning device' and evidently a rider yelling at
the top of his voice is not considered acceptable, though if
truth be known, that would probably be louder than most of
the feeble horns to be found on old brit bikes (some you can
only hear if the engine's not running.......) You can't beat
a really good AAOOOGAH!!!

As always - thanks for all the knowledge shared by you guys
on the Exchange. Safe riding -- Steve

It's not so much what's the correct tag as what's the
correct horn. A Klaxon 11. This has a larger diameter
than the Klaxon 8C so you can't put an 11 tag on the 8C.
About 10 years ago there were some repro Klaxon 11 horn's
from Europe that were the same diameter as an 8C but had
a Klaxon 11 tag custom made to fit them. These wouldn't
stand up to judging, as they're closer to an 8C in size and
ape than the 11 they preported to be ... Perry

What is the correct klaxon horn tag for the 29-30 horn?
