Not sure the reason for the stuck valve. I run non-ethanol gas. The valve was
soaked with penetrating oil plus I applied mild heat to the valve stem area, and I
physically attempted to move the valve. Mike Terry came to the rescue with
Liquid Wrench penetrating fluid and more heat. It worked! Now to keep it from
happening again. Marvel Mystery Oil and Seafoam?

Doug,

Are you talking about KJ-5316 Gear Shifter Rod, Only ?

Mine (1930) looks straight, but the illustration in the Parts List shows a little
whoop-de-doo near the rear end.

I was running Kendall GT-1 SAE 50, but it's hard to get now, so Valvoline VR-1
SAE 50 ($46 for a six-pack on Amazon).

What did you find out about your stuck valve?

Dave

My 1931 KJ has a straight cross rod between the hand lever and transmission
lever. Is his correct? Should it have a slight bend near the middle? If straight,
could it be a Deluxe item? What weight oil are you guys running? I’ve been
running straight 50W but there has been a question on it being too heavy for a
Four.
