Yeah Doug, we all get stuck doing unplanned, unscheduled tear downs.

I’m doing one now. Massey Ferguson 35 with 3 cylinder Perkins diesel. (SIGH!!)

🙄

You wanted to look in that combustion chamber anyhow…….didn’t you??

Well Doug , you know it's got to be done , so stop procrastinating (that's my
job) and take manifold off and do it properly !! Best wishes , Ken

Hello Douge , Hope you can sort this out without having to take the valve out !!
Stuck fast doesn't always mean stuck forever ! Can you squirt oil through the
plug hole and under the valve head , also have you tried a screw driver under
the valve stem and tried gently prying the valve up a little . There isn't much
stem showing at botton but thought there would be enough to get a thin ish set
of side pliers to persuade it to let go !! Good luck anyway , let us know how you
get on . Ken

My number 1 valve on my KJ is stuck open. Any advice on getting it to drop
back down without removing the intake manifold? I've soaked the valve stem
with Kroil. Grasping the end of the valve stem is difficult as there isn't much
metal exposed below the spring (which is fully compressed). Tapping it doesn't
work either and I don't wish to bend the stem.
