Marty, the cap treads are 1 1/2x20. you need one of these to
chase the threads. Be careful!

My story-I had everthing painted and then realized the gas
cap threads in the tank were munged. What dumb move. I had
to machine the tanks and fab a threaded insert, and do all
this without scratching the paint! It worked out though.

We are entering the final stages of completion of my KL. An
ambitious painter fouled the holes for mounting the battery
box [all three holes], as well as the hole for bolting the
exhaust header under the right front of the frame.
Also, need to chase the threads on the gas caps and tanks.
Does anyone have notes on the correct taps and /or dies for
these? Thanks, Marty
