Hello all , sorry to mention Ace but I'm sure the
orriginator of Hendersons wouldn't mind , the rods in my Ace
ve an extra oil hole in the small end , there are two at
the top and one at 90 degrees facing iether valves or the
magneto side , MY question (as my engine had two facing one
way and two the opposite) is what direction should these
extra oil holes face ??? many thanks . Ken

Ken,
I have an original Ace rod in my grubby hands as I type. In
tock form, there is only a single oiling hole in the top of
the small end of the connecting rod. It is slightly
countersunk.

As Rob offered his advice and he is an engine builder, I
would go by his words. Remember that the Ace engine is a
splash lubricated motor. The extra hole drilled by a well
intentioned person to improve oiling, probably didn't do
squat in reality.

AceDoug is right, its only an attempt to aid oiling, Study
crank rotation and hole location relationship. That crank
will whip up a clockwise rotating oil mist and that oil hole
will hopefully gather some of the mist of oil.

But then again making holes was the only way Ace knew how to
obtain speed, :)
