your HX176 what size Venturi does it have our one is 1 1/8" which I feel is
to big should be 3/4" to 1"

My 1923 has a HX176 and I think that is the correct one for 1922 also. I
don't think that is the problem.The leather should close weak and it is
important that the spring is correct. I have seen many springs that don't
work. Try to find one from an original carb or buy one that you know are
working.

Nicks. Bike has a HX 176 and I believe your right it's been running terrible
spoke with Peter Reeves said the carb size is very important as 4 cyl use
small choke appro 3/4" and 176 appears to be 1'1/8 also the spring that
holds the leather plug closed very weak he also confirmed this is critical.
Looks like I found the problem just resolve the issues.
