Rotten dick was here over the weekend and said at the meet where the photo was of you and Red. he told me he was there and that Steve came up to him talking about bikes and in particular the Ace he said after awhile the one thing {Richard} wanted more than anything was to meet Red ,Steve told Richard that he had flown Red to the meet Richard asked "Where is he?" Steve Replyed over there in the hat at that point Richard turned and walked away leaving Steve mistafied??? Who is the famous one there!!! Richard said the look on Steve's face was funny like "Hey im the one everybody that is sane wants to meet"

I have a news clipping from years ago showing McQueen's wife in the sidecar of one of his Aces. Steve was at one of the old Medina, Ohio meets in the mid-1970's, and had his Sporting Solo model Ace there. He was in costume so no one would recognize him. Also at that meet, he bought a restored Flying Merkel for $4000 I believe. Everyone was crying that he was ruining the hobby when the bike was only worth $2500 at the time.

Rumour has it Mark is going to redo McQueen's Ace for the next Cannonball.
Should be interesting. I have to admit the Ace makes the deluxe look stodgy
as it does with most bikes from that era except of course the contemporary
Brough ss80/100.

Barry,
Don't mess with Mister Ace. I mentioned that I had only headstock decals for
Philadelphia. I never made headstock decals for the Blossburg Ace or the
Detroit Ace. Now I'll have to go into my Ace stockpile room and roll around in
my spare bits just to settle down.
