What's the deal with pressure plates?

Has no one figured out a way to disassemble and
reassemble?

I had three nice ones until water leaked into my storage
container and everything rusted (it was like a steam
bath when I opened it up).

They still turn ok and I can get the rust off via
electrolysis, but being able to put in new bearings and
check the surfaces would certainly be a good thing.
