Again, thanks for all the resposes on the fork spring comressor question! After talking with Jeff Roth on the phone it looks like I will be doing maybe a few of these simple comressor tool kits (at least one for me!). If anyone else needs one please email me.

Wow, many thanks! That was a lot of great information. Any pictures of those different compressor tools would be greatly appreciated! I have to come up with something real soon before my front wheel comes back from Buchanan's (gotta get that frame and forks dis-sassembled and painted for the final assembly to begin - OH YAAAA...)

I made 10 sets of these tools in the 90s. In this picture they're just sitting on the bike mocked up, but it shows how the compression of the springs was achieved.

When I was trying selling the last one, to a friend who shall remain anonymous, but who lives in a nearby metropolitan area, when asked if he'd buy a set said, "Why should I when I can just borrow yours?" Ha!

Kudos to Kris for offering to lend his.

Hi Kris Thompson here. Jeff Roth had made up some of these compressors a few years ago. I still have one I've used. If you want to borrow it you can give me a call or email... 402-890-3505 or vtwin74@aol.cm

I apologise because for the life of me I can't remember who it was but I purchase a spring compressor fabricated by someone on this site. It consist of two aluminum brackets with angles built into them to conform to the angle of the spring coils and threaded rod between them to provide the compressive force.

a few fittings ( 3 - 1/2" tees - 6 - short sch.80
1/2" nipples - 4 ft of 1/2" pipe and 2ft of 1" angle iron )
Only took a few min. to put together . I could try to

Does anyone by any chance know of an off the shelf spring compressor that will work on the KJ front main springs (Or do I have to yet again stop and make up something)?
