Ed ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Ed I'm a relative nobody in the in-line 4 cylinder engine repair bussiness so my opinions probably do not have much value in some cases however I have run engines with and without baffles while running cast iron and Total Seal ring sets in Egge pistons. I was unable to detect any change in oil consumption or oil generated smoke. If I build another engine or have one built I will not put any effort into finding and installing baffles. Russell ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Would wellcome all opinions , is it ok to leave the baffels out when installing new pistons with new modern oil control rings . It's my understanding that they were only necessary because the original oil rings were inadaquate . Thanks Ed |
