Hello guys , while on the subject of KJ rear mudguard frame lugs , does anyone know why some lugs were pointing forward and some upwards ?? was it just a year thing??-Ken ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Ron - there is no spacer that I know of. Just the bolt, lock washer and nut. A regular nut not a castellated one. Attached is a photo of Andy Jurgensen's wonderful original paint 29 Super X where the bolt is clearly visible (this photo is from: http://www.motoexotica.com/inventory/138/1929_Excelsior_Henderson__Super_X.htm Likewise my original paint 31 Super X also has just the long bolt, lock washer and regular nut. Now before everyone says "Yeah but we're talking about KJs here", I'll point out that both the barrel nut and the long bolt have SKJ part numbers which means they were used on both the KJ and the Streamline Super X. Given that, at least in this detail, I would expect both bikes to be the same ... Perry ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- thanks, that make since so you can tighten the rack supports with out having to much pressure on the frame tabs. so would the long bolt have a spacer so you can tighten it up or no spacer a castle nut & cotter key so it will swivel. Ron sorry about my earlier spelling ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- The threaded coupling was only used with a rear luggage rack. If you don't have a luggage rack on your bike the rear fender is mounted with a single long bolt ... Perry ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- I have a 1929 Henderson the rear fender on mine has two bolts with nuts holding the fender to the frame just behind the seat. I have seen a threaded coupling that looks like 9/16 hex turned down on the ends round between the frame tabs with bolts holding the fender. Would any body have a picture of what should be there, or how to make the right pieces thanks |
