I have considered taking apart my Deluxe short tank. Mine is completely clean and in pretty good shape but was leaking at the seams. Apon close inspection, I found it to be spotwelded together many times all the way around on both sides of the center strip through a large hole in the front. Then a panel was soldiered on at the front. Soldier was also sweated in between each spotweld. I blew out as much soldier as possible and tried to resoldier. It is very hard to get soldier to take to metal if not properly prepared - cleaned and fluxed. I finally decided that I will use a special aircraft fuel tank sealer used by the military on the inside.

A friend has a bad Deluxe short tank. He wonders how to take it apart since it has apparently many many pop rivets and also soldered joints.

Has anyone gone throught the disassembly process?

Is anyone making Deluxe short tanks?

Does anyone have one they could part with?

Email me at indnrdr@yahoo and I'll get you in touch with my friend
