The Szekely ("Zeke") was not too rare. The run may have been several hundred. It was found on 3 early 30's airplanes- Buhl Bull Pup, American Eaglet and Curtiss CW-1 pusher(one on Ebay right now). It was installed on a handfull of others but never really went into wide spread distribution. The Zeke's fell out of favor when they started ejecting cylinders because of a sharp machining radius on the barrel base. All that remain flying must have a hold down rod that goes from cyl head to cyl head. You can see them in my picture-my plug wires are laced to them.

I know of 3 types of 'round' 3 cylinder airplane engines that were built and distributed; Szekely, Anzani and a Lenape. Again, there may be some other obscure motors out there that had limited runs with little distribution. I call those "text book engines".

Thanks Richard,

It looks like you have the same 'problem' with motorcycles as I have with airplanes. This is a picture of the last restoration I did. It is a 1931 Buhl "Bull Pup" with a 45 Szekely motor, built in Holland, Michigan. The Heath will look just as unique, when finished!
