Happy New Year to all...

Here at The ToyHouse, we've given birth to two motorcycles this year.

First, Carl Vandre finished my KJ engine, and I've ridden it about 400 miles until the winter really set in. Went on a 60+ mile "Freeze your butt off" ride with the AMCA Highlands chapter. We rode, we froze...

My traditions include rides on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. I took the KJ out for the first two.

Subsequently, a co-worker offered me a FREE 1984 Kawasaki KZ 750 crotch rocket that started and sounded OK, but wouldn't idle or accelerate correctly.

Being a sucker for FREE, I "accepted" this FREE bike.
It cost me:

$20 in gas to go get it, and drag it back home.

$ 0 to drain the dead gas out of the floatbowls of the (4) carburators, and drain the dead gas out of the fuel tank.
$10 to refill the gas tank.

$8 to replace the spark plugs - the previous owner had cracked one of the plugs while "tuning it up".

- All was going according to plan, when I found that my 1-amp motorcycle battery charger had done the deep-six.

$25 bought me a new one at Tractor Supply.

So I've got $63 in this beast, and although it's a LTD 700 - not a KZ 750 - they're basically the same animal and it runs like a raped ape.

In 2009, it will be 25-years-old, and thus eligible for "antique" status - cheap tags and cheap insurance. Imagine that! I think my NYD ride will be "turning Japanese".

SO WHAT IS YOUR POINT ABOUT VIDEO ???
-------------------------------------
Well, U-Tube, MySpace and all those other places have taken over the minds and souls of the younger generation. So, if we want to spread the message about antique motorcycles, we have to get in touch with the younger generation - on THEIR terms.

We're old fogies - but we got videos!

Or the videos of Ed Mitzner's KJ30124 and his friend Tom Lovejoy's DeLuxe on Ed's page

We be geezers, but we be in tune with the times...

I need to know how this video stuff works for you
- especially if you're in the country and stuck with
a 56k MODEM dial-up connection.
We want this to work for everyone...
