Hi Eric,

What source of supply did you use for your Detroit Hen decals? If Bob McClean, were the decals OK. I'm concerned of the age holding up to clear coat. Any available from Antique Motorcycle Works, other sources? Thank you

Steve,

I used Bob's decals. I wasn't real happy with the second set I got (I ruined the first set) but Bob went out of his way to get them to me in a hurry. I think his silk screens are getting a bit worn. I didn't have any trouble with the clear coat. I use "Centari" clear and I apply about 4 mist coats on the decal allowing 10 to 15 minutes between coats. The last coat is heavy and I always get over-spray and orange peal but I always block sand the clear coat and finish with an anxiety ridden machine polish. As for other sources; I have given thought to checking out the model airplane and car hobby because I know there are custom decal makers that cater to that niche. They would need a sample to copy but I'm sure it all gets processed through Photoshop so the edge quality would superb. Also, they are used to delivering excellent results for tiny little models, so a big old motorcycle decal should be a piece of cake for them.
