Nice bike - VERY nice bike....congratulations Rob Olsen's recommendations from an earlier posting (see msg# 900ish) said: "I like Rotella T 15-40 for break in followed with a 20-50 conventional or synthetic if you plan on beating on it. The addative package in Rotella T is excellent." I couldn't get this in the UK and went for Castrol GP 4T (mineral 20W-50). Whatever you choose, I would recommend checking the tech spec for two things: First, the oil needs to meet the JASO MA specification which indicates that it is suitable for wet clutch and combined engine/gearbox applications. Second, it should have zinc dithiophosphate (ZDDP) - an anti wear additive - in the oil. I won’t go into the reasons why we need it in a Henderson engine – if you have an hour or two to spare do a Google search on ‘zinc camshaft’. Have fun.... Steve ----- ORIGINAL MESSAGE FOLLOWS ----- Hello I've recently purchased this nice 31 KJ and was wondering whats the best oil for it. It's nice to ride. thanks...Simon. |
