thanks Ian; I dont have a riders handbook! my flywheel does
ot seem to have an "EC" it does have an "E" I have a
splitdorf mag, and have set the rotor carbon brush pointing
about 2 oclock with the spark retarded with the S in the
hole, as for the vlv timing I set the E in the center of
the hole with the number 4 cylinder exhaust valve just fully
losed asumeing the front cylinder is #1 and the rear is #4
? is this correct?
Al

Woooo, Man what,s the problem the timing is very well
spelled out in the riders handbook. the vlv timing is set
during the assembly of the lower end and doesn,t jump out of
me in the frame ,so don,t know what to make of that.Pull
the plugs out and roll it over until the S shows in the
center of the hole, pull the oil pump off and gear and rotate
e mag to where to rotor is pointing at the #1 cylinder and
just starting to open the points with the spark
advanced.then observing the rear cylinder exhaust tappet
have someone roll it over to the EC mark on the flywheel
SLOWLY.If the cam is timed correctly it should be up (vlv
off it,s seat)and when the EC is in the center of the hole
it should just release, which you should easily be able to
feel with your fingers. As the manual states this should be
on the same rotation. WA LA
Al sounds like you got it except for the retarded position
of the lever on the mag, this is a KJ that needs timing and
not a delux right,as KJ,s are timed in the advanced
position. Ian>>>>>>>>.
